In May more animals left our port for slaughter offshore. Four live export ships loaded with cattle went to Vietnam, rated F on the World Animal Protection Index and one, the Ocean Swagman to Indonesia rated E. On 25 June 2021, PETA made a complaint relating to the abuse of Australian cattle in Indonesia. A report detailing the Australian government's investigation into this complaint was only released this year with the investigation finding violations of live export trade standards (ESCAS) at seven Indonesian slaughterhouses where Australian cattle were being killed. https://www.agriculture.gov.au/sites/default/files/documents/escas-regulatory-performance-report-jan-mar-2023.pdf
This abuse of animals must end. Please remember to email the PM on the first Monday of the month, tomorrow Monday 5 June 2023 https://www.pm.gov.au/contact-your-pm asking that his government follow New Zealand and end ALL live animal exports by sea. #BanLiveExports
