In the 2018 calendar year 257,513 cattle were exported from the Port of Townsville (second only to Darwin) and there are plans for even more cattle to be exported this year. So far four ships have loaded cattle for export, two shipments going Vietnam and two to Indonesia. Photo shows one of the many animals exported last year to be killed in Vietnam after  14 days at sea. Currently an escaped steer who has been given the name Samson is on the run in Townsville and it is hoped he can be caught and given a safe home.
