For the last several days my sister has been suffering with an eye infection. I have brought this to the attention of the nurses a minimum of 5 times now yet nothing has been done. I have contacted the guardians and again nothing has been done. I have sat her watching my sister moan, cry out and writhe in pain for the last several days. The nurses see it and ignored it. She can barely open that eye/keep it open. Yet the court felt the Inova guardians would make better choices for her.
How can you effectively and properly be someone's guardian without ever coming to see them or check on them when situations are brought to your attention. Bottom line is you can't. This is one of the inherent problems with granting guardianship to lawyers who are by the nature of their profession rarely if ever present. Her guardians Ms. Heishman and Mr. Labowitz (yes that Ken Labowitz) apparently are content to let her suffer, are content with Dr. Beheri seemingly ignoring her medical situation and conditions, content with Behiri showing no interest in knowing anything about her medical history, her medical longstanding conditions, or how her system reacts or does not react to certain drugs or procedures. Her guardians have demonstrated they are content to apparently accept anything and everything Behiri and/or the facility Tells them without physically following up including that her oxygen saturation rates were normal and had not fallen into the low 80’s requiring oxygen and her being overmedicated and given morphine twice a day to sedate her and it interacting and causing pain instead. I feel bad for the several other Wards they have in this facility.
