Yesterday was the 6th day of my sister's abduction by Inova Fairfax Hospital and the first day I had not been able to spend the night with her. By coincidence, or not, it was also the first night the nursing facility gave my sister a male nurse. Yesterday was also the day CNN put out a breaking news report that an investigation showed 1000+ nursing homes were covering up sexual abuse of the most vulnerable patients. When I arrived at Dulles Health & Rehab Center yesterday, the nursing home Inova placed her in, she was flush and running fever. She was not given Tylenol because the facility protocol is to only give Tylenol for pain and not fevers. My sister does not have an order for Tylenol for pain but they will give her morphine (I know boggles the mind). She was literally crying out all day. I can hear the congestion in her chest. She was and is not being suctioned at all to clear the mucus, and she is not getting her breathing treatments. I have been told I am not allowed to suction her even though I have been caring for her for the last twelve years. Yet from what I have seen the staff appear to be deaf when it comes to patients cries in this facility. They are horribly understaffed for the amount and severity of conditions of their patients. Today, the 7th day of my sisters abduction by Inova Fairfax Hospital. When I arrived my sister was moaning and crying. Her face was flush and when I hugged her she was burning up. Her temperature was 103.6 axillary, which means it was actually 104.6. Her heart rate was 120 her respiratory rate went up to 52. The only thing the facility has done is to take a chest X-ray. They will not give her Tylenol because their protocol is to only give Tylenol for pain. My sister does not have an order for Tylenol for pain but they will give her morphine. They shut off her hydration as well.
