I am delighted to inform all of you that the value and power of your signatures has been realised. Honorable Minister of Women and Child Development has very clearly and unequivocally said that the practice of FGM is a crime under the Laws of India. She has said that those who practice FGM on minor girls can and will be prosecuted under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. She has also said that if the Bohra clergy do not abide by these laws and stop propogating FGM in India, her Ministry will make a law to ban FGM in India.
