End Cruel and Inhumane Treatment of Animals in Chilean Rodeos
La causa
As a witness to the harsh reality of Chilean rodeos, I personally stand against the appalling abuses forced upon innocent animals. I have watched, heartbroken, as bulls and horses are manipulated with electric shocks, crushed against rings, and physically assaulted just to continue in a competition. A sport should not be the source of such pain and humiliation. The torment doesn't end in the ring, as records show they are forced to keep standing even when their bodies can no longer bear the pain, often using cruel means like pulling their tails. The same governing bodies that set the rules are often the ones breaking them without consequence. And the saddest part is that they claim that the animals are sent to rest after a competition, but in reality, their ordeals are far from over.
Such cruelty is intolerable and more so because it is avoidable. Rodeos are not essential to our culture or our economy, but respect for all life should be. It is time for us to stand up for these animals who have no voice of their own.
In the United States, similar practices in rodeos have been heavily regulated or outright banned in several regions (source: ASPCA). Today, we are urging the Chilean government to follow suit. Let's ensure these activities no longer have a place in our society. The call is to end the mistreatment and exploitation of animals in Chilean rodeos.
