Petition updateEnd Contract With Flock in University City200+ Signatures & Upcoming City Council Meetings
Al SchadMO, United States
May 14, 2026

In one month, we have gathered over 200 signatures to tell the City Council of University City NO to ALPR surveillance!

However, our battle has just begun. These upcoming events are extremely important for U City residents to attend. U City Neighbors United (UCNU),  the group behind DeFlock U City, encourages you to not only attend these meetings, but to make anti-ALPR signs to hold, bring your friends and neighbors, and make a public comment.

City Council Study Session on ALPRs
Presenters from Flock and the ACLU
Tuesday, May 26, 5:30 PM, City Hall

Please note, study sessions are open to the public but have no Citizen Participation section. If you have questions you would like the presenters to answer, forward your questions directly to your City Council representatives.  Check out our website to find out how.

Regular City Council Session
Directly following the ALPR Study Session
Tuesday, May 26, 6:30 PM, City Hall

This session does have a Citizen Participation section. Learn more about making a public comment on our website. As of now, City Council’s vote on the expansion of the U City Flock contract is NOT scheduled for this session.

Have you checked out our website, DeFlockUCity.com in a while? We just created a "Take Action" page with tons of information and resources to help you spread the word to your community and talk to your City Council representative about this issue.  While Councilmember Tieman of Ward 2 has been in conversation with UCNU (Thanks, John!), neither Mayor Crow, Police Chief Hampton, nor any of the other Councilmembers have responded to our emails or texts about this issue. Can you help us get their attention?

A few housekeeping items:

  • If you share the petition, please encourage people to add a comment with their signature! Comments make the signatures feel more personal, and help City Council understand more about residents' concerns.
  • We ask that you do not "boost" or donate through the Change.org platform. This promotes the petition across Change.org's marketing, which means it gets advertised to people who do not live or work in U City. If you'd like to contribute to our cause with your time or money, please reach out to UCNeighborsUnited@proton.me
  • If you'd like to join U City Neighbors United in general, you can also shoot us an email at UCNeighborsUnited@proton.me

See you at the City Council sessions on May 26!
