The Issue

For decades, our family court system has mandated payments that often leave individuals financially burdened while failing to truly support family stability. Child support and alimony, as currently enforced, can create lifelong debt, discourage personal responsibility, and displace wealth that families have built over a lifetime. Current laws treat financial obligations as a one-size-fits-all mandate, ignoring individual circumstances, earning capacity, or the willingness of families to make private arrangements.
Courts often prioritize bureaucratic revenue and rigid formulas over practical solutions for families.
Emotional terms like “best interests of the child” are often used to justify financial mandates, without addressing the underlying economic realities of the parents involved.
Step-parents and partners can sometimes be financially penalized or exploited under these systems. Abolish mandatory child support and alimony, replacing them with voluntary agreements between adults that can be enforced through contracts if both parties consent. Allow families to determine their own financial arrangements based on circumstances, rather than being forced into rigid court mandates.
Promote transparency, fairness, and personal accountability in family finances. We call on lawmakers to take immediate action to reform family financial obligations, ending forced child support and alimony as they exist today. Individuals should be free to negotiate arrangements that work for their family without fear of lifelong debt or state-imposed penalties. Every individual is entitled to the wealth and life they have worked to build. Family courts should support families, not impoverish them. Stand with us to end mandatory financial obligations in family law and return fairness and personal responsibility to family agreements.
