The Issue

For years, I've watched our community suffer as more and more people choose to shop in other counties rather than supporting our local businesses. As a long-time resident of Louth, it's disheartening to see our local economy struggle primarily due to the inconvenient traffic flow at the M1 retail park. This situation not only affects retailers but also impacts the livelihood of those employed there.

The M1 retail park is a staple in our community, offering a wide array of stores and services. However, the limited number of exits makes shopping there a hassle, significantly deterred by traffic congestion. This has pushed residents to frequent areas outside Louth where shopping experiences are more convenient.

A study by the Retail Council has shown that ease of access and egress is a critical factor in shopping decisions. A well-structured retail park can boost customer visits and spending by up to 20%. Currently, the bottlenecks experienced in our park stand in stark contrast to these findings, stifling potential growth for our small businesses.

Our proposed solution is simple yet impactful: by collaborating with the owners of the M1 retail park and Louth County Council to install additional exits, we can significantly improve traffic flow. This will not only make our retail park more accessible but will encourage more local shopping, driving economic growth and creating a thriving environment for local entrepreneurs.

I urge you to think beyond immediate costs and consider the long-term benefits. More exits will lead to increased customer satisfaction, higher sales, and a vibrant local economy.

Please join me in taking a stand for our community by signing this petition. Let's work together to make Louth's economy stronger and support our local businesses. Your signature can spark the change we need.
