Thank you for making this petition a success! We've topped 100 signatures in just four days!

As promised, I started this morning off by sending an email that detailed the demands in this petition to every member of the Orleans Parish City Council and cc'ing the Mayor, the D.A. and local news stations.

The City Council is taking its first steps toward putting measures in place to protect citizens from being prosecuted in abortion cases, but we want something proactive.

From WGNO:

"According to a spokesperson for Councilmember-At-Large Helena Moreno, the resolution that was co-authored by all seven council members is modeled after the City of Austin’s GRACE Act.

The GRACE Act is a policy recommendation, recommending that city funds shouldn’t be used to solicit, catalog, report, or investigate reports of abortion."

Two Things You Can Do Today

Contact your city council representative to show your support of this petition and call upon them to take steps to put stronger, more proactive measures in place to protect abortion access in the city of New Orleans. You can find your rep's email here: https://council.nola.gov/councilmembers/

You can also cut and paste the following letter and email it:

Dear City Councilmember,

The citizens of the City of New Orleans deserve full human rights. I want to see laws put in place that protect bodily autonomy, control over our private medical decisions, and access to safe and legal abortion. That's why I've joined so many others in signing this petition: https://www.change.org/nolaabortionaccess

You have already taken steps to deprioritize abortion investigations. Please continue this forward momentum and lead by adopting protections that proactively protect the full rights of all citizens.

And you can share this on social media and tag your rep:
