Yesterday, Morristown City Council voted to pass the proposal for data centers on first reading.  Council member Tommy Pedigo added a stipulation that it be brought back with stronger regulations. They didn't want to do a moratorium on data centers like Hamblen County did, which would have given them some time to thoroughly look at what other cities are doing.  I think the current proposal is very weak.

The next meeting is Tuesday, October 20th at City Hall (100 W 1st North St). This will be a public hearing and final vote. They will take public comments at the workshop meeting at 4:00 and also at the regular meeting at 5:00. We need people to be there even if you don't speak.  Please email the council members and encourage them to put a moratorium on data centers to do further research.
