Recently, a petition on the HM website has attracted remainers and leavers to stop another referendum. I understand that some people may think that having another referendum would not show democracy and that it may cause civil unrest. However, I believe this case is an exception. A true democracy allows the public to change their minds, very much hinted by the majority of recent polls, suggesting that we are now an anti-Brexit country and have regretted voting to leave the European Union. I attended the People's Vote march last week and 700,000 protesters joined, making it a clearly big issue and the second largest protest in British history, after the Iraq War protest with 3 million. Don't forget that fact that it wasn't necessarily half the country that actually wanted to leave: some people voted to leave for reasons against their actual viewpoint. Some claimed that they wanted to "make their voices heard" and some voted to leave because they thought that we were not going to leave. And guess what happens when this idea is shared between thousands of people? That's right- a sway to the wrong side. Not to mention the fact that as of 3rd September, 2.6 million leave voters have switched to remain, while 970,00 remainers switched to leave. This causes a net gain to remain at 1.6 million, overruling Brexit's 1.3 million lead and automatically reverses the vote now. Also, about 900,000 Brexiteers have actually died since June 2016 and about 300,000 remainers have reached 18 and can now vote.
