Hello fellow supporters. I'm sure many of you have different reasons for why you signed this petition, but for those of you who are Christians and/or conservatives, or know people who are, please share this argument with them. I decided to write this today because, I believe it to be the true core to the battle against the death penalty. (You can also modify, and email this to your governor, if you live in a death penalty state. I've sent it to Gov. Stitt and Gov. Desantis)

Hello, governor, I know you probably won't see this message yourself, but I have to do what I can. I'm a citizen of the wonderful state of Florida. I know you've probably received messages concerning the death penalty before. I understand, Mr. governor, that you are in fact a Christian and a conservative.

I'm against the death penalty because, not in spite of, being a Christian and conservative. You see, this may not be a sound legal argument to make in the courts, I know that religious beliefs are not to be represented in a court of law, but I say this to you, on a person to person level, not as a lawyer, but as a fellow Christian. You see, there are a lot of similarities between Moses and Jesus, when it comes to symbolism. Moses walked the desert for 40 years and Jesus did it for 40 days. Moses wrote the first law, of sacrifice by the shedding of animal's blood, and Jesus wrote the second by the shedding of His own blood. Now, I bring this to your attention, because Moses does commit several executions in the time that he is in the desert. Moses shows us the bitter cold truth of what a life without Christ resembles. It's an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, but when the Messiah arrived, he took that bearing of sin for us on the cross, so that ALL of our sins are wiped clean. Remember His words, "He who has not sinned cast the first stone". Only He, the all righteous one was worthy of throwing that stone. He was sinless and pure, unlike any executioner, judge or jury to have ever existed. Despite his full right to have ended the sinful woman's life, he didn't. He set her free of her sin, and forgave her. He gave her a second chance at life. If the almighty Jesus, can give a second chance at life, than how can we stand before God and say we are shedding blood for His justice?
The second reason, I'm against the death penalty is because I'm a conservative. I believe in the First and Second Amendment. I believe in the freedom that this country fought so hard to receive, and in the checks and balances that this country rose to being the richest country in the world, with. Now bear with me for a moment. How can we as a free country, depend on our government to decide whether a human lives or dies? The checks and balances in this country slowly fade away, and so does our freedom. As of now, capital punishment is only for what is considered to be heinous offenses, but what if our federal government decides that a hate crime is a crime for which one can be sentenced to death? What then, when a father loses his life because he didn't want to accept his young daughter as a son?

Governor, I send you this message with best regards to you and you family. I believe in most of the policies that you and your council has instituted, still, Mr Governor, ask for one last request, one thing that would, in my belief, better the Republican party, and our growing home state, by a great deal. Please look past the opinions of those who are ruthless and cruel, to you and your family, and study the detailed facts, based not only on law, but also on the truth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ
