On top of the fact that Florida's state attorney, Michael Satz will be retiring, and the public defender Howard Finkelstein will also be retiring and no longer on the case (most likely replaced by Gordon Weekes), Judge Elizabeth Scherer will most likely be replaced this year by Gov. Ron Desantis. If these events do take place, this case will practically be started all over. This has already been postponed until the end of the year, it's only a matter of time before the whole process begins all over again. End it now, accept the plea deal.
