To the EIHL, 

We the undersigned call on you to make it clear that all forms of abuse will not be tolerated in our league and that you as a body will investigate all reports and take appropriate action where unacceptable behaviour is found to have taken place. 

Ice Hockey is a family sport, and we are proud to be a community where everyone is welcome regardless of their age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation (this list is not exhaustive). 

It has been alleged that homophobic comments were made on the public address system at the Sheffield vs Coventry match on the 4th March 2017, which if found to be true, acceptable action must be taken to ensure that all players, staff and fans are comfortable that such behaviour is not, and never will be acceptable in our league and sport.

The NHL currently  have been making great efforts with campaigns to ensure that abuse is tackled and support and education is given right across the league, and in hockey communities in Canada and the USA. Please follow this example, and the examples of other major sporting bodies in the UK to confront homophobia head on!
