OVER A DECADE OF BEING UNDERPAID, OVERWORKED, SYSTEMATICALLY HAVING OUR RIGHTS ERODED & OUR TRADE DANGEROUSLY DESKILLED.

For far too long employment agencies have been charging more & more for our services whilst our pay rate has been kept artificially low.
Their share of our actual worth is obscene & covertly manipulates us into earning just enough to involuntarily continue working worryingly longer unsociable hours whilst spending less & less time with our families.
This along with an inability to afford proper pensions, healthcare or insurance ALL with NO recourse for improvement. THIS SHOULDN'T BE THE CASE!
LASTLY & MOST CONCERNING. THE LACK OF CONTROL GOVERNING THE UNSKILLED / UNQUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS CARRYING OUT INSTALLATION WORK ACROSS THE UK...
I'M POSITIVE THE GENERAL PUBLIC WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO LEARN HOW MUCH WORK IS UNDERTAKEN BY INEXPERIENCED "ELECTRICAL WORKERS". THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS ADDRESSING NOW BEFORE ANY FURTHER PUBLIC EXPOSURE TO THE DANGEROUS HEALTH & SAFETY IMPLICATIONS ARISE!
NO ELECTRICAL WORK SHOULD BE DONE UNLESS IT'S BY QUALIFIED, CERTIFIED & REGISTERED ELECTRICIANS!!!
Therefore, the undersigned support the URGENT need to regain justifiable earnings, improved working conditions in line with the times & the legal imperative that we must seek to stop non-electricians doing a very important & dangerous job...
JOIN THE "EWRI" MOVEMENT
I urge ALL 'sub-contracting' Electricians to re-evaluate the worth of YOUR vital services & as important the wives, girlfriends, family & friends who are acutely aware of the unprofessional work regime we suffer as "Electricians" in supposedly a leading nation in the world.
TERM & CONDITIONS :
*Standard work hours : 8am to 4pm
*Standard paid break/s : 1hr/2x.5hr
*£200 per 8 hr shift (fixed)
*£25 per hr minimum (fixed)
*IMMEDIATE end to flat hour 'overtime' rates. In fact an end to advertising extra hours as OVERTIME. It's very misleading since the correct term shoud be 'more hours available' as overtime is self explanatory yet agencies conveniently disregard the fact. Also the current vogue of 7.30am start time shouldn't be accepted unless that half hour before 8am is paid as overtime.
*Pre-fixed fee for extra tickets e.g. +50p p/h per ticket PASMA/IPAF
MAIN REQUIREMENTS :
*Written contract with every placement from agency detailing hourly rate, hours paid & contract run time. With a fixed notice period of 7 days prior to any lay off.
*Indisputable need to address the health & safety issue of unskilled & unqualified labour being instructed & undertaking what should ONLY be OUR work.
*Absolute necessity to end UMBRELLA pay method & eliminate spurious need for 3rd party payroll companies altogether!
*Hopeful setting up a EWRI membership opportunity to gain reduced rates on pension, healthcare & insurance paid as a subscription agreed upon by a signees vote.
*Once we have 10,000+ join our movement a survey will be taken, of all signees to ascertain if an INDEPENDENT SPARKS REGISTER may be a way for us to steer our careers forward in the future.
