The Martin Luther King of media tributes and government-sponsored moments of silence is not the real Dr. King. We are sold a phony version of King, where being nice and getting along are the core of his philosophy. But in reality, he was a radical activist, opposed to war and to capitalism, and we need his commitment to love and to active political resistance now more than ever.
