The Stafford Supervisors are having a special Transportation Work session meeting on Thursday October 26th at 5:00 PM in the Board Chambers.
The Stafford Master Plan study is finished now the Supervisors have to prioritize the Road projects and figure out funding sources. This is a difficult task, because of so many needs and limited funding.
The study recommends a new road with a trail to be built on the west side of I-95 that would connect Garrisonville Road to Route 3 which includes a new River Crossing. It's similar to the Inner Connector I proposed, but I don't believe it's better. They never did do a study on my exact proposal. A new subdivision is now being build that might block the Berea Church Road connection.
Last week FAMPO Officials reaffirmed their support for the River Crossing NEPA study in order to meet Federal requirements for funding.
In other news, The new Petition to Establish a Historic Events Park and River Walk Trail at the closed golf course has grown to 3,000 supporters. Please click on the link to look at the Waterfall picture and read it. If Stafford acquires the Golf Course for the Park it will reserve the future right-of-way for the river crossing. The Park could also be used as a mitigation factor in crossing the river conservation easement.
Here's the link to the new petition. Please check it out!
