Hello everyone,

FAMPO has a Transportation Plan Public Comment Period that ends Tomorrow Evening. Please Post your comments at the bottom of the page on this Link.

Tell them "I support the Fredericksburg Area Inner Connector and Trail Network!"

We are up to over 4,300 supporters (720 on paper) and growing. I have been out of town for most of the last two years, but I'm back now and after Memorial Day I will be ready to lead the fight to get the Fredericksburg Area Inner Connector and Trail Network approved.

Please help by commenting on the link above and keep sharing the petition.

If anyone wants to help with a website, facebook page or donate for bumper stickers please email me at jsbrito@aol.com.

Below is my comment to FAMPO.

Thanks for the Support,
Joe Brito

I support the Fredericksburg Area Inner Connector and Trail Network!!!

The only way our region is going to get out of gridlock is to build a City Transportation Grid System that provides alternative routes for local Traffic. We are relying too much on I-95. We need to build a local road network that can function when I-95 has accidents or when the construction on the Falmouth Bridge creates gridlock on Route 1.

Building a road and trail grid system that connects the dense population centers, work locations and the destination locations together with the shortest route is effective in reducing congestion and emissions.
At least 25,000 people will use a portion of the new road 15 mile road for their destinations, which will reduce traffic on the busiest sections of Route 1, Route 3, Route 17, Route 630 and many other roads.

Over 4,300 support a study of a new Parallel Road with a Trail West of I-95 that includes a New River crossing at Celebrate Virginia. The new Road and Trail network would connect to 20 existing roads that could provide nearly 100 alternate routes to avoid the busiest roads. It will significantly improve the functioning of our Transportation system and the movement of vehicles including the FRED bus system, while it cuts back on driving time and reduces air pollution.

The best way to massively cut back on the carbon footprint in our region is to create a Transportation and trail grid system that will reduce peoples driving time, promote biking, walking, and reduce traffic congestion, while making the FRED system more convenient and more efficient. If this transportation grid reduced just 2 miles of driving time for 25,000 cars it would be equivalent to reducing 50,000 miles per day of driving on our roads. At the same time it would reduce traffic congestion for tens of thousands of cars drastically reducing air pollution in our region.

City Grid Transportation Systems have been proven to be efficient in keeping traffic moving by providing alternate routes to disperse traffic.

Please support a study of the Fredericksburg Area Inner Connector and Trail Network! I challenge FAMPO to compare it to any other Plan.
