Many things are happening fast and once again I can use your help to email the Stafford Planning Commission. Their email addresses are at the end.

The Inner Connector and Trail Network is also proposed to have a Regional Park at the Abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course. Historic sites and this Waterfall are some of the features that can be seen as you walk the 7 miles of existing paved golf cart trails. The City of Fredericksburg owns about 1,000 acres on the boundaries of the Golf Course property. Together the Park would consist of over 1,300 acres. The Waterfall is on City land in Stafford about .7 miles from the golf Course Trails.

Some of the Golf Course land is needed for the river crossing and if all of it was acquired not only would it make a beautiful Park, it would also justify the river crossing and Trail to provide access to City Residents.

The Cannon Ridge Golf Course is designated as the Open Space Recreational Parcel by law in the Recreational Business Campus Zoning Ordinance (RBC), when the Land for Celebrate Virginia was rezoned in 1999 and again in 2003. The land can't be developed in it's current state, but the Planning Commission is considering designating it for Suburban Residential use in the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, which will encourage a future Residential rezoning. They will be voting to send the Plan to Public Hearing on Wednesday night, so time is of the essence.

Please email the Planning Commission and tell them to Designate the Cannon Ridge Golf Course for Recreational Use for a future Park in the Land Use Plan. This will Ward Off any future attempts to rezone the Golf Course Property and protect the Right-of-Way for the River Crossing.

Also please tell the Planning Commission to include the Cannon Ridge Golf Course to Belmont Historic Waterfall Trail in the Comprehensive Plan.
