Great News!!!
Last month I made a presentation on the Inner Connector and Trail Network to the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) Citizens Transportation Committee.
Yesterday, the Citizens Transportation Committee decided to send a letter to decision-makers expressing the need for another Rappahannock River crossing that would allow residents to avoid using I-95. Some members were opposed, preferring investment in public transportation.
The committee did not endorse the Inner Connector plan. The committee took this action after discussing public comments received on the draft project list for the 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan. A couple comments from residents about wanting a river crossing in general. The letter expresses the general interest in a new river crossing, nothing specific is endorse.
All alternative river crossings should be looked at and compared to each other. Each one will have it's pro's and cons, but I believe there's one that will stand out that has many more pro's than con's.
This is a step in the right direction, but there are many more steps to come. We must keep moving forward.
I want to thank everyone for your support. Please sign and share the petition. Let's keep the momentum going!!!
Thanks again,
Joe Brito
