Using a Regional Approach to share in the costs and combing Infrastructure is smart planning.

The abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Course has 7 miles of paved Trails, a Clubhouse, Parking, a Lake, and maintenance shops.  There is a large level area near the clubhouse that could accommodate four to six rectangular fields and it's near a Beautiful Natural Waterfall that is on public land.

The 273 acre Golf Course abuts over 1,000 acres of City Conservation land along the Stafford side of the river. Some of the Golf Course land will need to be acquired for the Bridge and Trail crossing. Why not preserve it all for an Instant Regional Park connected by a scenic overlook Bridge and Trail?

The City of Fredericksburg and Stafford need to work together to reduce Traffic Congestion while proving Recreation and Economic Opportunities. It will save money and improve the quality of life for all of us.

We should be writing to Warren Buffet to see if he would be interested in creating a Fredericksburg/Stafford Regional Park on the abandoned Cannon Ridge Golf Coarse in honor of Doris Buffet his sister that passed away last year. It could be called the Sunshine Lady Regional Park and Nature Trails. It would honor his sister in perpetuity. Both Doris and Warren have many ties to this area and have been very generous in providing for the needy hence her nick name "The Sunshine Lady".

We have to plan for the future and this Road and Trail proposal combines the recreational needs of our community while relieving traffic congestion on the busiest parts of Route 3, Route 17, Route 630 and a 16 mile section of Route 1 that includes the areas of Falmouth, Mary Washing Hospital, and Stafford Hospital.

Fire and Rescue Response and Transport times will also improve in many areas of Spotsylvania and Stafford County.

A City grid system has been proven to work well overtime. Combining that Infrastructure with Parkland, Trails and recreation in a regional plan reduces costs and improves the quality of life for everyone in the region.

I hope to see some of you at the meeting at Fredericksburg Nationals Stadium at 6:30 on July 14th. The Stadium is near the Fredericksburg Expo Center behind Wegmans at 42 Jackie Robinson Way, Fredericksburg, VA 22401

Thank you,
Joe Brito
