The Eagle (the College-Station publication) has published a short article on Oatmeal along with the picture that surfaced a few days ago. Although this isn't exactly the ending we were hoping for, this is the closest thing we will get to an actual statement from TAMU. For this reason, I have no choice but to believe that the picture is real and the story is true. Even though Oatmeal will not live the rest of his life at a sanctuary, it looks as though he will not be a college "teaching tool". Rather, he will be roaming free on a pasture and taken care of by his new family. This is what we all wanted from the beginning. I would like to share that last week I contacted several media outlets about our petition and had it sent again to several important people at the college including the Dean. I cannot help but think that the pressure from the petition was a huge part of this new development and all of you who signed played a role in his release. So, I thank ALL of you for signing, sharing and sharing over and over again. 50k+ signatures in one month is no small feat!
