Memorial Tribute to My Mother, Cheryl Cornelius

Over the past several weeks, many of you have followed my mother’s story, signed this petition, shared it with others, and offered words of encouragement during one of the most difficult times of my life. I am deeply grateful for your support.

On May 16, 2026, we held my mother’s final memorial service in Clearwater, Florida, where she was laid to rest beside my brother, Brad Turner Cornelius. After nearly 28 years apart, they are finally together again.

The closing moments of the service included a final prayer and a beautiful accordion performance of “Hallelujah,” performed by Eric Pukara. The tribute was especially meaningful because my mother loved to play the accordion. Listening to that music brought back so many cherished memories.

Thank you again for standing with my family and for helping shine a light on the urgent need to protect vulnerable patients and families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

As I continue this journey, I am focusing on healing, honoring my mother’s memory, and carrying forward the fight for meaningful change.
