As we approach gathering 600 signatures...

Dear Friends and Family,

As we approach gathering 600 signatures supporting the release of my son, Efrén Paredes, Jr., I invite you all to please reach out to five other people and ask them to sign our petition as well to help us increase our number of supporters. This is very important during this critical time leading up to Efrén's resentencing hearing in the coming months.

For the past several months Efrén has been participating in the longest and most extensive interview with a prisoner in the nation who was sentenced to life without parole (LWOP) when they were a juvenile. That interview can be accessed at http://EfrensWords.home.blog I highly encourage people to read the interview, learn about Efrén's 30-year journey for justice in his own words, and share it widely.

Earlier this year a documentary film installation about Efrén's case titled "Half Truths and Full Lies" was featured at Casa de Rosado, a Latinx community center and art gallery based in Lansing, Michigan. There are currently plans for the exhibit to be featured at other venues around the country. Updates about the film can be viewed on the films's website at http://HTFL.info

Last month I met Korey Wise and delivered a letter appealing to him to support our campaign to free Efrén. Korey is one of the five men known as the Exonerated Five (formerly the Central Park Five) who were wrongly convicted of a 1989 crime they did not commit in New York City when they were teenagers. They were arrested one month after Efrén and exonerated 14 years later. Their story is part of the Netflix series "When They See Us."

We continue to network with people around the country bringing visibility to Efrén's case and sharing his story. And, we will not stop until he is free. Thank you for your continued support.
