UPDATE: Email to NSW Minister of Education 24th May '16

May 25, 2016
Here is their response to my email; "Dear Jason The Safe Schools program is funded by the Australian Government. It is implemented by a non-government organisation, the Safe Schools Coalition Australia. The program is one of many social inclusion programs available to schools from external providers to help reduce bullying. The program has been available to all schools across Australia. It has not been imposed on any school. The NSW Government is committed to all students feeling safe and supported at school. In February 2016, the Hon Simon Birmingham, Federal Minister for Education and Training, initiated an independent review of the appropriateness and efficacy of the resources generated by the Safe Schools Coalition Australia. The independent review was conducted by Professor Bill Louden, Emeritus Professor of Education at the University of Western Australia. His report was finalised on 11 March 2016 and is available at https://docs.education.gov.au/node/40001. The NSW Department of Education is supporting NSW public schools to implement the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training’s changed requirements for the Safe Schools program. These changes are expected to be in place in NSW public schools during Term 2, 2016. As the Safe Schools program is an Australian Government funded initiative, any further enquiries regarding the program are best directed to the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training. Thank you for your correspondence. Regards Alison".
