Across New Zealand there are various communities that are sheltering their children from our beautiful but rugged nation. For example, Lynley Tulloch of the Waikato region is currently attempting to garner support to ban school possum hunts.This is made more disturbing as it involves young children who are still in the process of developing their personal values. In an educational context this is completely inappropriate.

Possum hunting events demonstrate a fantastic opportunity for our young citizens to learn about where their food comes from and how to sustain themselves in a respectful and humane manor.

Surely in a world that is in desperate need of more strong and wordy citizens we should be modelling a more hands on approach to our environment and the animals that live there.
