Greetings, Damon Barone, Alief ISD parent, taxpayer, and alumnus.
I want to ask that the district’s Board Committee Meeting
1. Dates and times be shown on the boards calendar on the district’s website,
2. that the Board committee agendas be posted on the district website along with the regular board meetings, board workshops, and special called meeting agendas,
3. that the posting of the committee meeting information be posted at-least 72 hours in advance, and
4. that board committee meetings be communicated to parents and community members via email, robo calls, and text messages.
I also would like to ask that community members and constituents be allowed to address the board online during the patron presentation portion of all district meetings;
as during the last safety and security meeting I noticed that more than one school board member actively participated in that meeting virtually while all other participants (district employees) sat in this board room.
I also have a concern regarding that same safety and security meeting, because parents and community members were not given an opportunity have patron presentation speeches, as required by law.
My last request is to ask that when the board and district leaders refers to the word equity or reference being equitable, please define what equity means to you all and give some quantifiable examples of what we should be able to see when you all are being equitable in the topics which you are alluding to.
