Greetings,

Damon Barone, Alief ISD parent, taxpayer, and alumnus.

This Board came up with qualifications of its Board Member stating, “Persons interested in being considered for appointment to the Board should submit a letter of interest, application, and resume, focusing on employment history, public service, and commitment to the Alief ISD community."

My higher education is centered around public service. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies, Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, both are from the University of Houston Downtown; with aspirations to go to Law School and obtain a Law Degree.

I graduated with honors with both degrees, and was inducted into the National Communications Honor Society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success where I served as the Vice President, President, Chapter Liaison, and Graduate Advisor.

My Board member education includes: Texas Education Agencies Lone Star Governance Training for School Board Trustees, and Texas Attorney Generals Open Meetings Act training, and Public Information Act training.

In addition to my academic public service background, my employment record shows service over personal financial benefit. I have a current and active teaching certification in Early Childhood through 6th grade, and an English as a Second Language certification; with which I have taught third grade math, science and social studies here in Alief ISD.

During such time I also served as the third grade Math and Science Team Lead, the third grade Technology Team Lead, and I represented teachers by serving as the Alief AFT Union Representative for my campus.

I continue to support local education by serving as a sixth-grade Math, Science, and Social Studies summer school teacher for a Korean Christian Church.

My employment background includes sectors such as Nonprofit Management, Training and Development, Writing and Analyzing Policies and Procedures, Human Resources, Accounting, and Healthcare, just to name a few.

My public service is shown through community service. I currently serve as an elected at-large Board of Director for the Ninth District, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, Life Membership Foundation of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.

My commitment to continue improving the community, education, and business of Alief ISD has been through employment, parent engagement, community volunteerism, and business partnerships.

In 2011, I was chosen to serve on Superintendent Chambers Alief Leadership Community Network as well as chosen to serve on the Alief Long Range Facility Planning Committee.

I continued my service by serving on the Districts Bond Steering Committee and Bond Committee, and I have been a recognized mentor, volunteer and business partner of the district for many years.

I did not just wake up and decide that I wanted to run for the School Board, I have been actively engaged in the business of education here in Alief for many years.

In summation, I am highly qualified and ready to serve on day one, and my commitment can be measured by my continuous and resolute attendance to the district’s Board meetings for the last 7 years.

Damon Barone, Alief ISD parent, taxpayer, and alumnus.
