Imagine if we all got the same judicial understanding as Judge Lina Hidalgo

Channel 13 Reporter: Were you worried about being indicted?

Judge Lina Hidalgo: No. I mean look; I don’t know how far this is going to go. And it’s very easy if you present one sided facts to a grand jury, everybody knows a grand jury can indict a ham sandwich, if that’s all they see right? I’m not scared, I’m not losing any sleep over this. Whatever happens I am ready for.

My problem with Judge Hildalgo’s statement is she and everyone else knows that her statements are true; HOWEVER, when the average person says the SAME THING about their charges or the justice system, the news, the criminal justice system, and the employer of the accused seem to take the posture that the “common person” is guilty until proven innocent (after a long judicial process, sometimes years). Often times the “common person” is still treated as though they were guilty even after being found innocent, not guilty, or acquitted.

Don’t even get me started on the fact that the three staffers were charged with felony indictments in court in the morning, and all three were back at work before the afternoon. It sure would be nice for everyone to be able to get that type of employment treatment, because everyone else is getting fired from their jobs once the story simply breaks the air, now they can’t even pay their rent until the charges get resolved, let alone pay for legal fees.

Equal justice and understanding for everyone!
