Look at Fort Bend ISD’s board room for their January 2019 monthly school board meeting. Each month when I attend Alief ISD’s monthly school board meetings I am usually the ONLY parent, community member, or educator sitting in the audience. Superintendent Chambers, the School Board Trustees, and District Administrators are taking advantage of the absence of Alief community members, and district employees from attending the monthly board meetings. The district has even openly mentioned, during school board meetings, the absence of the Alief community from the monthly meetings several times on the record but have made no mention that the district strategically changes the dates of the board meetings from allegedly being held on the 3rd Tuesday of EVERY month, to changing the board meeting weeks when hot topics are schedule to be voted on or secretly passed by the board, so that people are not prepared to come to the school board meetings and voice their concerns of the agenda items. Alief district educators are even being told by administrators that as district employees they are not allowed to attend school board meetings or that they are strongly discouraged from attending school board meetings because they are district employees. January 15, 2019, school board meeting is scheduled to address:
-Consider Approval of Budget Amendments
-Annual Performance Report and Public Hearing
-Consider Approval of Alief ISD Board Beliefs and Commitments
-Consider Approval of Revisions to the Alief ISD Board Operating Procedures
-Board Committees Report
Alief School Board elections are coming up in November of 2019. Make sure that you vote!
