The Alief Grinches That Stole Christmas

Alief’s School Board voted to forego giving our teachers a raises or giving our teachers a one year stipend, as Alief educators have received in the past. However the school board, by way of a lucrative contract, which they also approved, allowed Superintendent Henry David Chambers Jr. to still receive a $30,000 pay raise for 2018-19 for his $350,000 annual salary. He is the highest paid Superintendent in Texas and ONLY has a masters degree. He used to be a coach, and I believe a social studies teacher. Alief ISD also created approximately 30 new director positions this year and bypassed employees whom already have been giving their blood, sweat, and tears to the district for many years. That is where the teachers raises went, that is also why YOU didn’t get that promotion, because HD Chambers and Elizabeth Veloz-Powell gave to jobs to their acquaintances. Last but not least, School Board Trustee Darlene Breaux, who is now the school board Vice President proposed to reduce the time the district has to notify teachers that they will not get their contracts renewed from a 45 day notice, to only a 10 day notification. Don’t take my word for it, go back and watch the school board meetings for yourself, or just start coming to the monthly school board meetings and listen for yourself firsthand.
Alief School Board elections are coming up in November of 2019. Make sure that you vote!
