School Board Members Can Be Sued Personally

School board members can be sued personally for their actions OR LACK OF actions. 

 
Board meeting minutes: individual board members who disagree with a board decision and are concerned about personal liability should have their dissent noted in the minutes. 

Board members as well as superintendents who understand that dissent does not equal disloyalty and that consensus does not equal unanimity have a greater appetite for developing a culture of inquiry. 

It is almost impossible to maintain a culture of inquiry if the school board president and the superintendent do not embrace it.
