Channel 13 only airs feel good stories about Alief ISD and bypasses the stories which parents have concerns about or need to know of. Last week two students got shot on an Alief campus right by the Administration building during school hours, no news story. Elementary students play with a loaded handgun during class, no news story. Last month a case of tuberculosis was diagnosed at one of the high schools, no news story. Only 23% of the 46,000 students in the district can read at a third grade level, no news story. The district is in a 6 millions dollar deficit, no news story. 12 out of the districts 46 schools are on TEA’s improvement required list, no news story. The district lost 1000 students in just this year alone, no news story. Superintendent has a “Stormy Daniels”, no news story. Superintendent plans to have a crawfish boil at his house to “fatten the school board members up,” before his evaluation (in his own words), no news story. Aliefs General counsel attorney admittedly steals $50,000 from his previous employer (OMEX), no news story. Superintendent Chambers serves as the president on the board for early matters where he in turn uses his position in the district to promote all day pre-K, a early matters initiative, no news story. A custodian finds cocaine in an employee restroom at an elementary school where a convicted felon for cocaine charges is allowed to volunteer amongst the students despite not being a cleared volunteer, and is awarded the schools volunteer of the year award, no news story. A high school teacher assaults a special education student and covers it up, no news story. Staff and parents complain about a parent openly and regularly carrying illegal knives into an elementary school, and is later arrest for felony evading arrest by Alief police and STILL CONTINUES to openly bring illegal knives into the school building, no news story. Elementary teacher admittedly steals students field trip money and takes parents personal identifiable information home and does not get fired, no news story. Elementary school attendance clerk has a felony theft conviction is not terminated and is allowed to continue receiving and having access to students and parents personal identifiable information, no news story. Two high school teacher caught engaging in sexual activity on campus and not terminated, no news story. Alief police captain is convicted of felony official oppression and is not terminated, no news story. I could go on and on.
