They Dont Really Care About Us

So let me get this straight, one person gets shot in Missouri City today after getting dropped off at home after school, and the news says they are unclear on the details and whom actually was shot, but still reports the incident. Yet two Alief students get shot on campus during school hours yesterday, right next to the central administration building and not a single mention or report by the news was made yesterday or today. Nor has Alief ISD notified parents with a call out or parent letter concerning the incident. What happen to the statement by Superintendent Henry D. Chambers of, “if you know something, say something.” Alief knew something and didn’t say anything back in February when an elementary student at Alief Collins Elementary had a loaded handgun at school and was passing it around during class, and Superintendent Chambers lied about the incident, the following week when a student at Alief Taylor High School threatened to shoot people at the high school the district tried to act as though the threats were no big deal. Each incident was kept a secret by Alief ISD until parents began to communicate with one another and contacted the local news stations themselves. I guess knowing something and saying something about incidents do not apply to Alief ISD knowing something and saying something to the parents and the community who’s children’s safety are actually in danger. Alief leadership will not start listing to parents until we start taking our kids out of public schools and the districts federal funding becomes affected because public schools are paid by the enrollment of our children, that’s why they are sticklers about attendance. If the parents and children of Alief can not get fair representation by those entrusted with our children’s lives and safety then it may be time to them to leave our district and let a real leader take over. I bet if any of the incidents happened in the 5th grade math and science class in Katy ISD at Rhodes Elementary where Superintendent Chambers daughters works, I bet the “know something, say something” expectation would be enforced to the fullest extent of capabilities.
