(This is from last night after a 4-3 vote win for the beach)
Hi Everyone –
Wow! That was amazing tonight everyone! What a great win! NONE of this would have been possible without all of your love for our beach and standing up together for our shared Edmonds community values! Isn’t it great that we get to wake up tomorrow knowing that we saved the beach!
MAJOR THANK YOU to the Snohomish Tribal Leaders (Pamela Bond / chelalakem čelalákem, Chiyokten Paul Wagner, and Jennifer Bereskin) who came out to educate us about this area we love and lead us in their traditions. Thank you to those councilmembers who have been with us ALL ALONG THE WAY (Diane Buckshnis, Adrienne Fraley-Monillas, and Mike Nelson)! And Neil Tibbott, thank you for voting to save the beach – we welcome you to the other side – we hope you stay here with us.
Tonight we celebrate. We won this battle and it…was…EPIC (when was the last time you saw news helicopter coverage of a small city council meeting?!). We will not declare total victory yet as you never know what kind of political maneuvering may yet happen. We will continue to grow our petition (100-200 per day) all through summer to increase our influence into the fall election season to ensure sustained victory in saving our beach and this little piece of the Salish Coast and Sea forever!
Special thank you to Marjie Fields who was a major collaborator on this! Could not have pulled this off without her insight, wisdom, and support.
Uber thanks to my wise and amazing wife (who was my constant advisor and filter behind the scenes to keep me on this side of the line of civility and love for others that I strongly disagree with) and our kids for their support!
Thank you everyone! We have an amazing community! Thanks for making it an Edmonds Kinds of Rally! This beach is special – our town is special - let’s keep it that way!
