Petition updateSave Edmonds Beach!6:15 Save Beach Rally - URGENT SEND EMAIL TO COUNCILMEMBER
Edmonds BeachEdmonds, WA, United States
Jun 17, 2019

We’re now in the 4th quarter of this matchup. We need to pull out all of the stops and bring the energy!

City council moved their “Executive Session” time up to 6:20pm so they can outmaneuver our rally. So we are moving our rally time up to 6:15pm before the 7:00pm meeting. We need to be “Centurylink Stadium/Seahawks” 12’s loud so that they can hear us during their private closed door session. Bring your drums and your voice and lets make some noise! Home Field Advantage!

Councilmember Kristian Johnson is the most persuadable of those likely to vote for building the concrete structure on the beach. Let’s see what happens when 7,000 people contact her to request she vote to save the beach. Her email is kristiana.johnson@edmondswa.gov  Phone 425.533.6105. Sample message you can use:

Dear Council Member Johnson,

I am writing to challenge you and support you in voting with the greater Edmonds Community to save the beach. This beach is a sacred space for our community and the animals that live in the Salish Sea. The city funded report shows that the mid-block option at the train station was the #1 option and would save $20 million in taxpayer dollars, provide multi-modal pedestrian access, solve the safety issue, and save the beach. The entrenched status quo of developer councilmen is trying to bully their way through by ignoring the public outcry to build a superhighway via ferry right through Edmond but claiming it’s for safety. It’s tone deaf and very poor optics – it will reflect very poorly on anyone who votes for it (I know you are running for mayor – I can’t imagine how you would be successful if you run on a platform that supports the destruction of our waterfront?). You have a choice to make – please the current mayor and his buddies, or run for mayor yourself in a way that provides fresh vision for solving our waterfront issues in a way that honors our shared community values.

We will be there watching and speaking truth and passion focusing on you. We hope you will listen to us with an open mind. If you vote for funding for concrete overpass you will hear the loudest ever collective groan Edmonds has ever heard and that will be your legacy. If you vote to save the beach you will hear the loudest eruption of cheering that Edmonds has ever heard rivaling a Seahawks game! Please, be our local hero and save our beach!

Sincerely

Let's pack the HOUSE! Bring it on!
