Good Evening Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters
I sent an email to the Minister for Transport Ms Jo Haylen earlier today
EMAIL SENT TO THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT
Good Afternoon Ms Haylen
For many years the previous Liberal State Government ignored the calls of people from the South Western Suburbs to extend the South West rail line from Leppington Station to the new Western Sydney Airport.
It makes sense to extend the South West rail as a heavy guage rail line to the airport.
It could be incorporated into the East Hills line and travellers could go straight to the city.
Also people on the Liverpool line would have access to the airport as well as the residents from the MacArthur area, The Southern Highlands and the illawara area who are not able to access the new Sydney Airport via rail unless they travel an extra 2 hours around Sydney to St Mary's.
I would also like to refer you to an online petition that I have been running since 2020 about this issue.
Extend the South West Rail Link from Leppington to the Airport
In addition I have just requested that Nathan Hagarty MP for Leppington lodge a paper petition with over 500 signatures in Parliament asking for the extension of the South West rail link also.
I trust that you will consider supporting this request.
Yours Sincerely
A PAPER PETITION WITH OVER 500 SIGNATURES WAS ALSO SUBMITTED
I dropped off a paper petition to Mr Nathan Hagarty MP for Leppington yesterday afternoon for lodgement in Parliament this week.
The Minister has 35 days from lodgement to provide a formal reply to the papper petition, so that should be before the 5th September 2023.
I will keep you informed of any developments in the the meantime.
