In this Update I will cover the recent announcements that have been made regarding the additional increase to Car Parking Spaces by the NSW State Government.

EDMONDSON PARK Station to get an extra 2000 Spaces
In addition to the Story in the Liverpool Leader by Cindy Ngo on the December 16, 2019 12:32pm where she wrote… “The State Government has bowed to community pressure and will provide an extra 2000 parking spots at Edmondson Park train station - 1300 more than the 700 promised earlier this year.”

Channel Seven News also reported on the Story with a news clip reporting that Frustrated commuters at Edmonson Park station will have to wait another year for long promised parking. ( I believe that it will be closer to 2 years probably the end of 2021 and possibly even going into 2022)

Leppington Station to Receive an extra 1000 Spaces
There was a media release by Peter Sidgreaves MP for Camden announcing 1000 extra Spaces at Camden Station on his Facebook Page on the 13th December 2019 at 11.23pm

The Macarthur Advertiser then ran an article on the 16th December 2019 see link below with Credit being Claimed for the increase in the Car parking Spaces being claimed by the Local Liberals see link below
And this is to SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT regarding all the various claims for Credit
I believe that Credit should be given when and where Credit is due and I also believe that if you go back over my Updates you will find that they provide factual information and reports rather than “Political Spin or Spin Doctoring” so here goes ….
Congratulations and Thanks are definitely in order for these announcements especially to the 8000 Online Car Parking Crisis Petition Supporters and the 4500+ people who signed the 9 paper petitions in both the Liverpool and Macarthur region.
There are many people were involved in this effort from the Journalists and Newspapers who broke the story in 2016 and to everyone who has been involved in the Car Parking Crisis Petitions and Campaign for #MoreParkingNow. I must also acknowledge the contribution by the Labor Party MP's Annoulack Chanthivong MP and Anne Stanley MP and the assistance of Liverpool Council Mayor Wendy Waller.
However, most importantly what hasn't been mentioned are the negotiations that have taken place between the Hon Mark Latham MLC and Transport Minister Andrew Constance MP over the last 2 months to achieve this outcome, after the last paper petition (that was organised by me) was presented to Parliament in October 2019 and the work that Mark Latham has been doing behind the scenes since he was elected.
I wanted to make you aware of the results that Mark Latham has achieved regarding the Car Parking Crisis in South West Sydney which the NSW State Liberal Government has firstly tried to ignore for years and then after making Election promises just prior to the March State Elections (which are now broken) has just made a new set of Promises regarding additional car Parking - "kicking the can up the road" with a new proposed completion date of Mid 2021 (I believe it when I see it).

1) MARK LATHAM KNOWS THE NUMBERS THIS IS INFORMATION ON THE CAR PARKING CRISIS OBTAINED BY MARK LATHAM I asked the transport Minister to provide statistics on the number of Opal card tap-ons in the morning peak between 5.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. at Leppington and Edmondson Park stations and then to compare that with the number of car parking spaces that have been provided. Last month, Monday to Friday, on average there were over 2,000 people tapping on at Leppington train station for their morning commute. There are 850 car spaces at the station. Mark Latham made also a statement back in February 2019 that he would provide 3000 Car parking Spaces at Leppington and Edmondson Park Stations and he has been working to achieve that behind the scenes. See Car Parking Petition Update below
3000 Car Spaces from Mark Latham One Nation NSW , Leppington Station Rally and More
Good afternoon Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters MARK LATHAM ANNOUNCES ONE NATION TO PROVIDE 3000 CAR PARKING SPACES AT EDMONDSON PARK AND LEPPINGTON STATIONS On Friday the 15th February 2019
Regardless of what this announcement for 1000 extra Car Parking Spaces at Leppington and 2000 extra car parking spaces at Edmondson Park is a culmination of work done by Mark Latham over the last 10 months together with the backing from the Community via the Online and Paper Petitions signed by Residents and Commuters.
And that's where the Credit for the increase in extra Car Parking Spaces should go - to YOU the Community you have supported the Car Parking Crisis Campaign and to Mark Latham for putting the work in behind the Scenes in Parliament House.
Having spent 40 years working in Private Enterprise, I am finding that Politics has a different approach to doing things - I believe in giving Credit where and when Credit is due and I honestly can't credit the Spin Doctoring, Glory Grabbing, Credit Collecting Liberal MP's who have in reality contributed very little, if anything at all to this outcome - Other than they were there at the initial announcements of the extra Parking with Premier Gladys Berijiklian which haven't eventuated and now we have these new announcements / promises that “Kick the can up the road” buying the Government another 18 months to 2 years time.
Perhaps IF the temporary Parking at both Ed Park and Leppington was Fast tracked by the Local Liberal MPs, as there are sites available at both Stations that could be used EG Ed Park - the Trash and Treasure Markets and the 5 acre Parcel on the Corner of Benera Rd and Croatia Ave and at Leppington the Government owned land Cnr Byron Rd and Rickard Rd or the 7 hectares opposite the Station OR the private land where the owner lodged a DA for 350 spaces with Camden Council. Then I could say in good conscience that there was some work done and contribution made by the Liberal MP’s (Maybe Miracles will happen over the Christmas New Year Period).
I will keep you informed and will be sending out more Updates in the New Year on further action that we can take to keep the Government on track and accountable. Temporary Car Parking is needed at both Ed Park and Leppington Stations .

There are a number of questions that have to be answered now regarding Temporary parking and Timing around the project and I will make sure we ask the questions and receive the answers.
