As we told you in yesterdays update, things are starting to move very quickly.

Not only is the issue of dogs in Edinburgh cemeteries back on the agenda for the 8th August meeting of Edinburgh Council's Culture & Communities Committee, via a Motion by Cllr Val Walker (Convener of the committee), something else momentous happened on Wednesday this week...the very same day we had a meeting with Cllr Walker at the City Chambers.

The other petition we have active, the Scottish Parliament "To revert the "No Dogs Allowed In Cemeteries" rule that was in place pre Covid." was considered by the Citizen Participation and Public Petitions Committee, and there was a very positive response.

At this meeting, the Committee agreed to write to COSLA, Police Scotland, and the Scottish Government. This is great news.

You can watch the petition being discussed in this clip:

We will of course, keep you updated of further developments with this petition, however this news and the events of this week mean the issue of dogs in cemeteries is very much on the radar, both locally and nationally.
