Unfortunately, despite the new signage going up on the gates of Morningside Cemetery, it continues.

The photo above was taken yesterday afternoon, Friday 09th Feb 2024

We also have photos of the owner and dog, as the dog was actually cocking its leg and urinating on a gravestone. These photos have been provided in a report to Edinburgh Council via this link:

https://webforms.edinburgh.gov.uk/site/portal/request/dog_fouling

This was just one of several instances that was observed yesterday.

The above form is very useful. It is very quick to fill out (took two minutes) and gives you the opportunity to provide as much information as possible, including photographic evidence.

If you witness any dog fouling in your local Edinburgh cemetery, we encourage you use the above link to report them.

Statistics can play a part in this, however are not the "be all and end all".

We need to start thinking about the practice of using cemeteries to exercise dogs (and potentially foul and damage mementoes left for loved ones) in the same way we do with littering, dog owners not cleaning up after their dogs anywhere, and drink driving in the modern age. All have laws forbidding them, and punitive consequences, and all are so engrained in the publics mind nowadays as unacceptable, that the vast majority just do not do them.

Please continue to share the petition folks!
