Please let your group know that I am a producer on a show called TechKnow, it’s a science-based show that focuses on the intersection of science and humanity and it airs on Al Jazeera America, an international network that built its following by becoming the voice of the voiceless. Our show airs in about 350 million households throughout the world and we air every Monday at 2:30 pm PST. I wrote and produced a special on tropical rainforests that airs this coming Monday if you want to take a look and see what we do. Our show is hosted by young scientists and we are only about 18 months old. The special we’d like your group to be a part of focuses on the latest innovations in food waste and how major cities are turning waste into fuel in increasing numbers and with greater success. We’d like your participation because your fight embodies the old way of solving waste…. by expansion of landfills. In addition, I understand there are already issues relating to the Newby Landfill (odors, violations) that make expanding it an even greater issue in your community. Please let me know if your group would be willing to participate in telling the story of the fight against expansion and the alternative solutions you’ve come up with (composting etc).
