The food sector is responsible for more than one third of global greenhouse gas emissions (GEI), according to a recent research published in the magazine 'Nature Foods'. This measurement includes from the change of land use and production to transport, packaging and waste management.

The data of the Organic Agriculture Research Institute (FIBl) indicate that Asia is the planetary region with a greater number of ecological producers, more than one million and a half. Africa followed with 850,000 producers, the 430,000 in Europe, America and its 250,000, and finally Oceania with something more than 18,000.
