A response from Downing Street!
May 20, 2019 —
Thank you so much for your continual support with the #DumpTheScales campaign ... over the last month we have continued to gain momentum around this, more meetings with MPs, and an APPG on eating disorders has been set up and in a few weeks I am attending a roundtable in parliament.
BUT... the problem still remains. We had an extremely frustrating letter back from The Minister for Mental Health after we took the petition to Downing Street. It is just more talk of developing pathways, strategies ... with all talk and NO action! We need to make sure that the government really begins to see this as an issue and begins to prioritise this!
What you can do right now?
Copy and paste this quote on to your social: The response from #Number10 @theresa_may to @HopeVirgo's #DumpTheScales petition is all talk and NO action. Eating Disorders are NOT about weight & judging if someone should have treatment based on their #BMI is too simplistic! Help us change this https://www.change.org/p/eating-disorders-are-not-just-about-weight-dumpthescales
I won't stop fighting until this changes so please do keep signing, sharing the petition, contacting your MP and sharing your stories! We can end the injustices of people with eating disorders!
Let's do this!
Keep fighting for people power!
