Ban Fishing at Willett Pond

The Issue

Today i witnessed something extremely cruel, inhumane and disrespectful to the local ecosystem at Willet Pond in Riverside. Usually, every time I visit, there is some remanence of fishing that disturbs the ecosystem in ways like swans and geese tangled in fishing lines, hooks on the ground, bobbers and lines everywhere, etc. This time I needed to take matter into my own hands because of how appalling what I witnessed was. When i went to visit the ducks, a group of people were fishing and casted multiple hooks into the trees carelessly, without making an attempt to get them down. One with an alive sunfish attached to it, left to die slowly and painfully. This was undoubtedly not a lore as the fish was wriggling and gasping. This was extremely cruel and unsustainable. All fishing has brought to this pond is harm and disturbance of local wildlife populations. I wrote this in hope that it brings the issue to notice for Riverside officials to address. I'm 14 years old and an animal advocate, and student  at East Providence High School and will shed light on this to the best of my ability. Thank you.
