Yesterday, a 4-alarm fire erupted at the planned site for a Prologis warehouse in Parkrose/Argay. The incident has amplified existing concerns, as Prologis failed to secure an unoccupied structure, further casting doubts over their ability to ensure the safety of a functioning warehouse, slated to be just 15 feet away from homes in Portland and one block from the Parkrose High School's sports fields.

The Parkrose/Argay community stands together, firm in our conviction not to become another Carson, California – a city adversely impacted by Prologis’ operations. This fire was bad enough, with firefighters taking extraordinary measures to fight the fire due to distant fire hydrants and low water pressure.

Yesterday, air quality specialists advised residents to close their windows to shield themselves from the harmful smoke. We ask for support for our community in this time of need. We call upon the Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Commissioners to take action to protect local residents from the potentially irreversible health damage that this warehouse could inflict.

Prologis doesn’t care, as proven yesterday. Our politicians need to care. We do not want a Prologis diesel freight warehouse in our residential Parkrose and Argay Terrace neighborhood. Please stand with us to protect our community.
