From the Lincolnshire County Council website, 'Chalk Streams Brought Back to Life'. https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/news/chalk-streams-brought-back-to-life-in-lincolnshire-wolds/125754.article?size=zoom For the third project, the team helped villagers in Claxby St Andrews and landowner Mr Roughton, to restore a spring-fed pond. As the pond is at a low point adjacent to the road, a lot of the surface mud and pollution runs off into the spring. This had caused a large amount of sediment to build up and the pond to narrow so it holds less water. The contractor ADC (East Anglia) Ltd used an innovative technique to suck out the sediment and return the spring water back to the pond. Lincolnshire County Council Highways team are also helping out to help clear the drains so that more of the road pollution is kept out of the spring. This important pond is at risk from 'run off' from the proposed chicken farm. The pond is downhill from the site. Increased traffic will inevitably spray contaminated water from the road into the pond.
