Update: Where We Are & What Comes Next

First, thank you. Every signature, comment, and message of support has helped move this conversation forward in meaningful ways. We want to share where things currently stand and what progress has been made.

Safety Committee: Green Light Given
After a one-on-one meeting with the Executive Director, we were given the green light to formally move forward with establishing a school safety committee. This committee will create a structured, ongoing forum for parents, staff, and administration to collaborate on school safety—covering areas like physical security, procedures, accessibility, and communication.

We are now working alongside the School Resource Officer (SRO) to shape the committee’s scope, membership, and goals. More details on participation and next steps will be shared soon.

Comprehensive Safety Assessment Underway
In parallel, we have begun the process of conducting a school safety assessment in collaboration with the SRO. This assessment looks holistically at the campus—identifying strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. The goal is to ensure decisions are informed, practical, and grounded in the real needs of the school community.

Update on ZE Software
We also want to be transparent about the status of the ZE software. There was opposition to adopting this technology, and ultimately, the decision rested with the Executive Director (this decision does not fall to the Board). The school will not be adopting the software or participating in a demo at this time.

While we are disappointed by this outcome, we respect the decision-making process and appreciate the school’s willingness to engage deeply with us on the other two safety measures.

Moving Forward Together
We are genuinely grateful that the school is partnering with us on the safety committee and the safety assessment. These are meaningful steps that create long-term structures for dialogue, accountability, and improvement—and they would not be happening without your support.

Thank you for staying engaged, asking hard questions, and advocating for a safer school community. We will continue to share updates as this work progresses.

With gratitude,
Fallon & Carter
