Thank you all so much for the support you have given and for the stories you have shared of your experience with Age UK and E.ON. It is clear that the energy tariff is not the only concern with Age UK.
We must make it clear that Age UK and the Age Concern are not the same charities. Whilst they merged in 2008 many of the local age concern branches broke away in 2010 because they disagreed with the corporate nature of Age UK and its aggressive commercial dealings. They are independent charities working locally and free of the commercial deals made by Age UK.
An example is Age Concern in Luton. You can read their position on their website. Please find and give support to your local Age Concern. They support us.
With 65,000 + support I am now writing this
Open Letter to Tony Cocker (CEO E.ON UK)
Dear Tony Cocker,
Over 65,000 have signed the petition for you to refund pensioners misled by your Age UK tariff. Many are on small fixed incomes – some in fuel poverty. They trusted you to look after them. This you failed to do. They were misled. They deserve a refund and an apology. We would be happy to meet you to discuss what you will now do to help them.
Raymond Noble
On behalf of petition supporters.
We will take up the offer of a meeting with Ian Foy of Age UK Enterprises and I will be writing to him this week to arrange that. I will put to him your comments and stories.
Thank you again for all your support.
Ray Noble
