The Department of Veterans Affairs treatment to their clients and Veterans is appalling

My name is Angus Sim. I am 30 years old and I am an East Timor and Iraq Veteran. I was posted to 6RAR in 2002 and discharged in 2006.
Too often, Veterans are falling through the cracks within the Department of Veterans Affairs. The system is just not working for younger Veterans in particular. DVA staff are often passing on conflicting information, giving wrong information and are not giving the Veteran the respect they deserve.
At times, the process that DVA put clients through when submitting claims can take months and in some cases put undue stress on the client, especially if it is a psych related claim often making the client worse off.
I have produce a survey in relation to the DVA’s treatment to their clients and Veterans called DVA Client Survey. If you are not a DVA client by all means please sign the petition but do not fill out the survey
I invite all clients of the DVA to conduct the survey. I will then analyse the results and see where the DVA is excelling or whether there is need for improvement.
I will then submit the findings to the Senate Inquiry and the media and have Government rectify the Act so it is more veteran friendly.
